1 ½ lbs ground beef, grassfed preferably

3 slices white bread, TORN INTO SMALL PIECES

1 small onion, chopped fine

1 egg, best if from free-range hen

¼ cup milk, best if from grass-fed cows

¼ tsp dry mustard

1 tsp salt

¼ tsp black pepper

3 Tablespoons ketchup

Procedure:

Preheat oven to 350°. In large bowl, combine all ingredients except for the ketchup. Mix well.

Press the mixture evenly into 9 x 5 inch loaf pan. Spread the ketchup over the top. Bake for 60-65 minutes or until no pink remains and the juices run clear.

Remove from oven. Drain and allow to sit for 5 minutes. Slice and serve.

OPTIONS: If you prefer to do without the ketchup, that's okay. Another option is to use spaghetti sauce, or just leave the top plain. Our family loves ketchup. I think we should invest in the Heinz Company because we seem to single-handedly keep the company afloat. No joke, it seems to me our kids use ketchup on everything except ice cream!
